Condition Guide

Depending on completion and condition, we classify our products in one of several different categories. As in some cases many different variations fall under a single category, if you have any questions about what a particular item looks like, please feel free to contact us and ask for pictures before you order the item!

Here's an explanation of what each different condition means:

Consoles and Accessories

Brand New
A console/accessory listed as Brand New has never been opened. It is still in its shrink wrap (if it originally came in any), and the shrink wrap is essentially in mint condition.

Brand New, Damaged Packaging
While still new and unopened, anything listed as Brand New, Damaged Packaging has had some degree of damage done to the shrink wrap, the box, or both.

CiB
Something listed as CiB contains the item, the original box, and the manual. It does not automatically mean other inserts that originally came with the item, such as a registration card or magazine ad, are present (although they may be included). The console/accessory has been used, and the box may have some degree of wear and tear that could be reasonably expected for the age of the item.

CiB, Cosmetic Damage
While the item/box/manual are present, there's some degree of damage to some combination of the console/accessory, the controller, or the manual. This damage does not affect the functionality of the item. This most often is (but is not limited to) scratches or sun damage to the shell of the console or an accessory, or tears or water damage to the manual.

CiB, Damaged Packaging
Same as above, but instead of the item being damaged, only the box is.

CiB, Cosmetic Damage, Damaged Packaging
While all of the console and controller or accessory (as applicable), box, and manual are present, some combination of all of them are damaged. As always, this damage does not affect the functionality of any of the items.

Used
This means the item is unboxed and doesn't have the manual.
Consoles: included will be the console, one controller, a video cable, and a power cable. Sometimes multiple controllers or a memory card will be included; this will be specified in the item title. The exception is if the console always originally came with multiple controllers - an Intellivision, for example, will always have two controllers.
Accessories: unless the title says otherwise, it is only the item. For example, a Playstation 3 controller will not have a charge cable included.

Used, Cosmetic Damage
The same as above, but some degree of damage has been done to some/all of the items. This will usually be (but is not limited to) scratches on the shell of the console or controller. This will NOT, however, include any copper showing in any of the cables - we will not sell any cord that has copper showing.

New Controller Joystick / New 3rd Party Controller
If you see this tag added to any other condition, it means the controller has a brand new aftermarket joystick or has been switched out entirely. At this time, this will only apply to Nintendo 64 and Gamecube consoles respectively.

Games

Please note that for disc-based games, they may or may not include the original jewel/DVD case and may come in a replacement case - while we strive to keep original cases with games whenever possible, it is not always feasible due to their condition when traded in. This applies to all versions of all games that are not new.

Additionally, it should be assumed that all games that are not new do not come with any DLC that they may have originally come with. As it is not possible to check DLC codes, they will be left in the game case if they are present but will always be priced as if they are either expired or already used.

Brand New
A game listed as Brand New has never been opened. It is still in its shrink wrap (if it originally game in any), and the shrink wrap is essentially in mint condition.

Brand New, Damaged Packaging
While still new and unopened, anything listed as Brand New, Damaged Packaging has had some degree of damage done to the shrink wrap, the box, or both.

CiB
Cart-based games: Something listed as CiB contains the game, the original box, and the manual.
Disc-based games: Something listed as CiB contains the game, the original sleeve, and the manual. The plastic jewel/DVD case may be a replacement.
TurboGrafx-16 games: Something listed as CiB contains the game, the original TG16-style jewel case, and the manual. If the cardboard box is also present, it will be explicitly stated as such.
It does not automatically mean other inserts that originally came with the item, such as a registration card, map, poster, or magazine ad, are present (although they may be included). The game has been used, and the box may have some degree of wear and tear that could be reasonably expected for the age of the item.

CiB with Map
In addition to those listed in CiB, the game also includes a map that originally came with the game. This is most prevalent with NES and SNES RPGs, although it may appear elsewhere. Note that a Map and a Poster are considered different things - anything with this label does not also include a poster, unless it is additionally stated in the title of the item.

CiB, Cosmetic Damage
While the item/box/manual are present, there's some degree of damage to some combination of the game, the manual, or the box. (Note that this is different from consoles and accessories - we don't use the Damaged Packaging tag with games.) This most often is (but is not limited to) tears, water damage, or stickers on the manual, box, or sleeve; or damage to the shell or label of a cartridge game. For disc-based games, it could also include sharpie or stickers on the disc (usually from old rental stores). Limited Editions that are missing their slipcover would also fall under this category. As always, any damage does not affect the functionality of the game.

Used, No Manual
In nearly all cases, the only included items are the game and its box. On rare occurrence there will be a manual included, but it will be so significantly damaged that we would not feel it appropriate for us to charge for it, so we pretend that it is not even present.

Used, No Manual, Cosmetic Damage
The same as CiB, Cosmetic Damage, but the manual is either outright missing or so significantly damaged that we would not feel it appropriate for us to charge for it.

Used, Cart/Disc Only
It's just the game. Cartridges are loose and contain no box of any kind. Discs will come in a generic, clear CD jewel case.

Used, Cart/Disc Only, Cosmetic Damage
For carts, either the shell of the cart is damaged, the label is either damaged or missing entirely, or both. For discs, this will normally mean there's sharpie or a rental sticker on the disc, but it is possible that there's actual label damage. For the latter, this will only apply to DVD or Bluray based games, as those will still function even if the label has some degree of damage. CD based games will not have this condition, as it is reasonable to expect that a damaged label will prevent the game from functioning properly, if not entirely.
